Carrizozo Malpais
From the volcano Little Black Peak lava flowed along the bottom of Tularosa Basin in two active flows. This formed the 40 miles of the Carrizozo Malpais. Accessible from the Valley of Fires recreation area we get a chance to walk along the historic flows dated to be around 5,200 years old.
